Computing

Subject Coordinator - Miss K Richardson

Hello and welcome to Computing at Mablethorpe Primary Academy. I am so pleased to be the subject leader for this exciting area of the curriculum, as Computing is becoming a vital part of everyday life.

My mission is to open up the world of Computing to every child in school and to teach them how to navigate it in a safe and productive manner. Computing will help enrich a wider array of subjects across our academy, ensuring learning is accessible and fun for all children.

Our Computing curriculum will allow the children to understand how computer systems and networks work in different places. The children will explore how Computing is used to collect and store data and information safely which supports how data is used in everyday life. Computing allows the children to be creative by editing photos, creating, and producing short videos and sound clips. Each year, one thing that children at Mablethorpe Primary Academy enjoy is programming. This starts from creating a small program to direct a beebot around the classroom to making their own interactive game!

Each term there will be an E-Safely newsletter covering a wide range of topics to help you keep your child safe when using online services. The purpose of these newsletters is to alert you of any current online trends, information and advice.

I am looking forward to working with the staff and children to ensure that computing is accessed regularly and safely which will help all the children later in their lives.
