Welcome to Year 1 Clownfish Class,

This is the page to find lots of information about the activities Clownfish will be taking part in, visitors and trips.

This term we will be focusing our learning on Vincent Van Gogh and the UK monarchy.

During our English lessons, we will be looking at 'Katie and the Sunflowers' and 'What the artist saw - Vincent Van Gogh'. Please make sure that you are reading with your child regularly. 10 Minutes a day really does make a big difference.

In history we will be looking at the UK monarchy, how Queen Elizabeth II became the Queen, her coronation, relatives and significance in the UK and beyond. In geography we will be exploring how we can look after our school.

In computing we will be exploring data through tally charts and pictograms. In art and design we will be investigating Van Gogh's 'Sunflowers'. In design and technology we will be creating our own school bag. In RE we will be visiting local churches and enquiring about Christianity. In music we will be listening to and performing songs related to imagination. In PSHE we will be looking at relationships with our friends and others. In PE we will be doing athletics, and striking and fielding games.

Our PE days will be Wednesday and Thursday, so please make sure your child comes to school in their PE kit and without any earrings. As it can still be cold and wet, please ensure children are wearing or bring tracksuit bottoms or jogging bottoms and a jumper or hoodie to keep them warm and a coat to keep them dry.

We love our outdoor learning, please ensure that your child always has a named coat and cardigan / jumper in school. If your child is wearing gloves, hat, and scarves, please ensure that these are also labelled.

To find out more information about your child's curriculum, please see our curriculum pages where we often post photographs and pictures of those children with photo permission. If you wish to update your child's photograph permission, so you can regularly be updated with pictures on social media, please see a member of staff.

Remember to like and check our Facebook page where we will be showing off some of our amazing work, if you find your child isn't appearing on the page, it's probably because we don't have permission, so if you would like to update this please contact the office.

Ms O'Brien, Mrs Gill, Miss Bedford and Mr Rose are looking forward to an exciting term ahead!
