Clownfish

Class Teacher - Mrs D Clarkson

Welcome to the Clownfish class.

We hope you have had a lovely break! We have lots of exciting learning opportunities planned for this term.

In English, we are going to be reading the traditional tales ‘Little Red Hen’ and ‘The Enormous Turnip’. In maths, we are going to be learning about place value to 50. We will be looking at which number represents the ten and which one represents the ones, learning different ways to represent and partition numbers to 50. We will also be learning about measures, learning about measuring length and weight with nonstandard units.

In History and Geography, we will be learning about farming and food. We will be thinking about changes within living memory and local land use. We will discover what food was like in the past and asking the question Why is Lincolnshire good for farming?

In Science, we will be working scientifically by examining plants and looking at animals including humans. In Religious Education, we will be asking the question ‘What do Muslims do to express their belief’ and ‘Which celebrations are important to Muslims?’ In computing we will be working on programming animations.

In Music, we will be performing the song, ‘Round and round’ and in Design and Technology, we will be continuing to work on food by preparing fruits and vegetables. In Art and Design, we will be making our own dolly peg dolls. In PSHE, we will be working on ‘Healthy me’.

In PE, we will be doing indoor athletics and continuing with gymnastics. This term, PE will be on Mondays and Tuesdays so please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days and if they wear earrings that these are removed.

Please ensure your child brings their homework bag to school every day. Reading books will be changed every Tuesday and Thursday if they have read. Don’t forget to write in their reading journal so we can see when they have read with you. Your child will choose a new choosey book on a Friday for you to read to/with them. Also, if your child reads 4 times and it is noted in their books, they will get to wear a reading crown on a Friday. We will also be setting some homework on Teams. Login details to follow.

If you have any questions, please speak to a member of staff when dropping off or collecting your child.

Thank you for your continued support with your child’s learning.
