Our Vision

At Mablethorpe Primary Academy, we believe that PSHE plays a vital role in preparing children for life, both now and in the future. Through our PSHE curriculum, pupils develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to stay safe, build positive relationships, manage their wellbeing and become active, responsible members of society.

Using the Jigsaw programme alongside a wide range of enrichment opportunities and real-life experiences, we help children to develop emotionally, socially and academically. Our aim is to nurture confident, resilient and compassionate individuals who are equipped to make informed decisions, overcome challenges and contribute positively to their communities.

Everything we do is underpinned by our values of Resilience, Aspiration, Kindness, Honesty, Respect and Positivity.

What We Learn

Through our PSHE curriculum, pupils develop their understanding of:

  • Mental health and emotional wellbeing
  • Healthy relationships and friendships
  • Respect and equality
  • Personal safety and risk management
  • Online safety
  • Physical health and healthy lifestyles
  • Economic wellbeing
  • Citizenship and British Values
  • Aspirations and future opportunities

Children build upon this knowledge each year, helping them to become increasingly independent, responsible and confident.

Our Curriculum Drivers

Aspiration

We encourage pupils to believe in themselves, embrace opportunities and develop high aspirations for their future.

Community

Children learn how to contribute positively to their school, local community and the wider world through leadership, citizenship and social action.

Experiences

Our PSHE curriculum is enhanced through assemblies, workshops, visitors, educational visits and themed events that bring learning to life.

Communication

Pupils learn to express their views, listen respectfully to others and communicate confidently about important issues affecting themselves and society.

Belonging

We create a safe and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, respected and supported, enabling them to thrive both socially and emotionally.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

PSHE at Mablethorpe Primary Academy extends far beyond weekly lessons. Pupils benefit from a wide range of experiences, including:

  • Anti-Bullying Week
  • Safer Internet Day
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing activities
  • Mini Police programmes
  • First Aid workshops
  • Fire, road and rail safety education
  • Fearless workshops
  • Leadership opportunities through School Council, Attendance Champions, Eco Warriors, Mental Health Ambassadors and Values Ambassadors
  • Community partnerships and awareness campaigns

These experiences help children apply their learning in meaningful and memorable contexts.

The Impact of Our PSHE Curriculum

Through PSHE, pupils develop the confidence, resilience and knowledge needed to make safe and informed choices. They learn how to manage their emotions, build positive relationships, recognise risks and seek support when needed.

We aim for every child to leave Mablethorpe Primary Academy as a respectful, responsible and resilient young person who is well prepared for the opportunities, responsibilities and challenges of modern life.

Through PSHE, pupils will learn how to express their feelings in order to develop good mental health and understand how to follow a healthy lifestyle to lead to good physical health.

We aim for our pupils to develop a sense of purpose, learn to work in a team and understand the importance of being part of the community.
