Class Teacher - Mrs L Staniland.

Welcome to the Jellyfish class.
This page will give you all the information you need about what is happening in our class, such as PE days, homework, trips, events and the areas that we will be learning about during the term.
Dear Jellyfish Parents and Carers,
Welcome back! We hope you all had a wonderful half-term break. Our enquiry question this term is: “Farm to Fork – Where Does Our Food Come From?”
PE will take place on Wednesday and Fridays. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days. Earrings must be removed or covered with surgical tape or plasters. This term, we will be developing a range of gymnastic skills and working on our athletic abilities.
In English, We will be reading a selection of Fiction and non-fiction texts as well as poetry. Little Red Hen is our fiction text which will lead onto our instruction writing. Followed by National Trust: Look what I found on the farm non-fiction text. We will identify the features of a non-fiction text and write our own non-chronological report.
We are very excited about our trips to Heckington Windmill and Ormsby Estate this term. Please look out for key information regarding these visits.
In Maths we will begin the term with measuring volume and temperature and then move onto fractions. In fractions we will be looking at equal and non-equal parts, halves and thirds.
This term in Music, we will be listening to and appraising a range of songs. Children will develop their understanding of pitch and rhythm, use body percussion, and explore both tuned and untuned instruments. They will also have opportunities to perform for each other.
Our Geography learning will explore where our food comes from, with a special focus on Lincolnshire as a key food-producing county in the UK. We will also learn about food miles and why it is important to understand the journey our food takes.
In Science, we will be learning about plants and their survival needs. Children will study the life cycle of a plant. We also have Science week during this term with a special visit from Science Boffins.
We have lots of exciting events planned for World Book Day:
-
Thursday 5th March is World book day, and children are invited to attend school in their favourite book character costume.
-
Friday 6th March: We will walk to the library to choose a book using our World Book Day tokens.
We are looking forward to taking part in Careers week later in the term.
Thank you for your continued support. We are looking forward to a fantastic term of learning and discovery!
