Puffins
Class Teacher - Mrs K Cotton
Welcome to the Puffins class.
Welcome to Term 5 in Puffins Class!
We’re looking forward to another exciting and engaging term in Puffins Class, full of hands-on learning and new discoveries across the curriculum.
🟦 Swimming will take place every Tuesday
🟩 PE will take place every Wednesday
Please ensure your child has the correct kit on both days. Swimming kits should include a towel, costume/trunks, and a swimming hat. PE kits should be weather-appropriate and clearly named.
Our new Enquiry Question this term is:
‘Why was the Ancient Egyptian civilisation located near the River Nile?’
This question will lead our learning in both History and Geography as we explore the importance of the River Nile to the Ancient Egyptians, and how rivers shape where and how people live. We'll learn about daily life in Ancient Egypt, how people farmed, built their homes, and created incredible structures like the pyramids.
In Art, we will be designing and making our own Egyptian masks, learning about symmetry, patterns, and the use of colour to reflect status and symbolism in Ancient Egyptian society. In Design and Technology, our focus will be on exploring and tasting different types of bread, before designing and baking our own!
Our Science learning will take us on a journey through the human digestive system, discovering how food travels through the body and how different organs work together to keep us healthy. There may even be some hands-on investigations and model-making along the way!
In RE, we will be learning more about Christianity, with a particular focus on how and why Easter is celebrated by Christians around the world.
In Maths, we will continue to build on our number knowledge, and explore new areas including mass, capacity, shape, and fractions. We’ll be using lots of practical activities and real-life examples to help deepen our understanding.
We’re really looking forward to seeing the children get stuck into their learning this term, ask brilliant questions, and continue to grow in confidence and curiosity.
Kind Regards,
Miss Cotton
