Class Teachers - Mrs L Brown
Welcome to the Seals class

This page will give you all the information you need about what is happening in our class, such as PE days, homework, trips, events and the areas that we will be learning about during the term.

We hope you've had a lovely summer and that you're looking forward to joining your new year 3/4 class in Term 1!

This term in English and Guided Reading, we will focus on two different texts. The first is ‘One World’ a wonderful story by Michael Foreman. The second is a non-fiction text 'The street beneath my feet’ by Charlotte Guillain which we will be using in our history topic also.

In History we will be learning about our local area, in Geography we will be using our geographical knowledge to learn more about Mablethorpe. In RE, our focus will be on celebrating. Answering questions like: Why do we celebrate? What different events/times of life do we celebrate? How do different people celebrate things differently? We will be learning about ‘Being me in the world’ in PSHE.

In Computing, we will be learning how to use and navigate the parts of the school computer system that will support our learning in key stage two. Our Spanish focus will be introductions and instructions in year 3 and how old are you? Age, happy birthday and parts of the head in year 4. In Maths, we will be learning place value, addition and subtraction and times tables this term. We will be focussing on magnets and friction in science.

PE days in Term 1 are every Tuesday and Friday. Children will be learning dance skills to create and perform their own dance and enjoying boxercise with JB. Please can children arrive at school wearing their PE kit (a black jumper or school jumper, academy PE t-shirt or a plain white t-shirt and black leggings/joggers or shorts). If your child has an after-school club with JB Sports, please can they arrive in PE kit that day. We would also like to remind you that earrings need to be removed on these days please. Newly pierced ears can be covered with a plaster instead.

Learning at Home: As a school, we are continuing to have a big push on learning our multiplication tables, which will help the children in many aspects of their Maths lessons and to prepare for the Y4 Multiplication check. It would be a huge help if parents and carers could encourage their children to log onto TT Rock Stars regularly and get those times down! New logins and detail reminders will be sent home with your child during the first week back.

Daily reading, at home for pleasure, will also significantly benefit your child; this can be any text by different authors, from school, home or the library, as well as newspapers, magazines or any other reading material! Please remember to sign your child's reading record every time they read.

Thank you for your continued support with your child’s learning.
