Class Teacher - Mrs D Clarkson

Welcome to the Angelfish class.

Dear Angelfish,

Welcome back after the Easter Holidays! This term is going to be very exciting as we are learning about plants and growing things!

In English we are going to be learning about the book ‘The Extraordinary Gardener’. We will be looking at the text and using it to inspire our writing, including a description and a story.

Reading we will also be focusing on reading, it is very important to read regularly, it is the skill that affects every area of learning -including maths! Reading just 5 minutes a day at home can make a significant difference to your progress. Please ask your adult to sign your reading diary so that we can see if you need your book changing.

As you become a proficient reader you will move on to an Accelerated Reading book, when you finish your reading book there is a quiz to complete on the computer. When we move you on to the Accelerated Reading scheme, we will speak to you directly about it.

In Maths we will be working on measuring weight, capacity, length and heights as well as continuing our work on numbers and place value to 50.

In Geography, we will be focusing learning about maps and plants that grow in our local area.

In science we will be learning about plants, bulbs, seeds and growing things. We will be learning about what plants need as well as growing plants from seeds and bulbs and recording their changes.

In Art we will be looking flowers, creating continuous line drawings, sketches and colour matching the shades of the petals. We will then work together as a team to create a sculpture of a flower.

Our PE days next term will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Any questions, please speak to a member of the Angelfish Team.

I look forward to getting to know you all.
