Design and Technology

At Mablethorpe Primary Academy, we believe that Design and Technology prepares children to become the innovators, problem-solvers and creators of the future.

Through purposeful and engaging projects, pupils learn to design, make and evaluate products that solve real-world problems. Drawing upon knowledge from science, mathematics, computing and art, children develop creativity, resilience and practical skills whilst learning how design influences everyday life.

We want pupils to understand that Design and Technology is all around them, shaping the homes we live in, the products we use, the food we eat and the technology we rely on. Through hands-on experiences and meaningful projects, children are encouraged to think like designers, engineers, architects, chefs and inventors.

Design and Technology at Mablethorpe Primary Academy enables the Mablethorpe Child to identify and solve real and relevant problems in a variety of contexts. Children are given opportunities to investigate challenges in projects which are relevant to their lives and prospects in the surrounding area. Strong, purposeful links are made across the curriculum with the skills and principles of Design and Technology remaining the centre focus. We aim to harness and develop children’s imagination and creativity through fascinating, challenging projects ultimately preparing them to become the designers, engineers, and inventors of the future.
